New details emerge on Entebbe expressway shooting

Police officers at the scene of the murder

Police officers at the scene of the murder

The vehicle in which two people were shot dead along the Kampala-Entebbe expressway last week, was captured at least four times moving between Kajjansi and Entebbe, between 8 and 10 pm on the fateful day.

The vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number UAW 534B which was captured by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) security cameras, had two occupants who were later identified as Joshua Nteireho Rushegera and Mellina Tumukunde. The two were shot dead on Thursday, near the Nambigirwa bridge along the expressway.

In the aftermath, police arrested a constable identified as Davis Taremwa whose gun was found at the scene of the crime. Two other police officers have been arrested in relation to the crime, according to police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

Taremwa told police that the deceased, Nteireho, had picked him from Hidden Treasure hotel in Entebbe and taken to Millennium hotel in Zzana, where they met a one Robert Suubi, to whom Nteireho was going to sell a Toyota Harrier at a cost of Shs 25 million.

But according to Taremwa, Nteireho abandoned him at the hotel with Suubi and drove away with his gun, which he had left in the car. Shortly after, Nteireho was reported dead.

Theories that have been connected to the crime include infidelity, gold deal transactions, dubious business and suicide. Enanga said that the suicide line of investigations has been ruled out since the gun wounds clearly indicate that there was a third party in the shooting.

Nteireho was buried in Kiruhura on Sunday amidst protest from his family who wanted him to be laid to rest at his father's ancestral home in Bushenyi. Investigations have revealed that the Nteireho had booked two hotel rooms in a hotel in Kampala, on the day he was shot dead.

Greed! Whether be for money, women or land, it will consume whoever harbours it!

I saw an article in the new vision where The Chief of Staff Land Forces Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda said that the killers of Joshua Nteyireho Ruhegyera have for some time been trying to disturb “our peace.”

He, however, said they are joking and they should stop the ill motives for their own good. i hear “Those who want to joke with the peace should first calculate the years President Yoweri Museveni has been fighting for it. Know the effort, the focus and plan, and then you bring the joking.

Wow, it appears they were waiting for the killing of one of their own before they could see the need to act. Condemn me for what am going to say but his killing was a good thing.

Did the husband know Ruhegyerye as a family friend?????

How come he did not know that his "wife" whom he left safely in Bushenyi/Mbarara was in such an unlikely company , unlikely place, andunlikely time to?????

Could it be this was a couple in an extramarital affair that adds complexity to the whole tragedy???

After having read all the newspapers and listening to all radio programs about this incident that happened on Entebbe road, I have come to the conclusion that the State was involved in killing Melisa Tumukunde and the so-called bodyguard.

The guy who was killed seemed to have been in love with this married woman. He had introduced the lady to the first family and was getting too close to them.

The guy is a relative to the first family. The lady looked to have been on a mission assigned by Rwandan Intelligence to infiltrate the first family and cause damage. to whatever she was assigned to do.

The Statehouse intelligence seemed to have discovered the motive of the lady. The only option was to eliminate her including the boyfriend that introduced her to the first family.

So many moving oarts to this story! A mysterious male victim and possibly the perpetrator of a murder suicide, one with family ties to the ruling family and intertwined in dubious deals with both state house and the entire security apparatus.

Then there is that equally intriguing story of the likey m ug rder weapon and how it ended up in the victims,'s vehicle, then the equally intriguing issue of a supposed house wife whose true identity is still a mystery, and one who was supposed to be some place else.

Then there is the mystery of a husband who apparently had to go through a third party to comfirm that the wife was not at home, but somewhere sitting dead in a car by the roadside then of course that inceasingly vexing Rwanda angle. The truth lies somewhere in between and may never be known.

Ok.The truth about what happned in that vehicle leading to the deaths may never be known.

But we now know from Rushegyera" s social media rants that these guys, much as they are connected, with lots of money, armed to the butt, they go around as scared as the rest of us.

Maybe this death will help convince the rulers that the best protection for them is the protection of everyb ok dy else for, a society that fails to protect the many who are weak eventually fails to protect the few who are powerful.

WADADA should have reminded kyanda that all the murders that are taking place all over the country don't equal to peace.

In other words Wadada, where was Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda on 26th January 2017, when Mr. M7 said that Ugandans were mistaken when they thought he went to the bushes of Lweero to liberate them?

The guy said that he is in our State House fighting only for himself and family period!.
