Gulu alarmed by rising number of male sex workers

The mayor of Gulu municipality George Labeja has raised a red flag over the rise of commercial male sex workers in Gulu town.

Unlike the female sex workers who are easily spotted, the male commercial sex workers are organized with leaders and are normally hang out in pubs along Cemetery road in Gulu town.

They usually operate discreetly in the night. According to Labeja, an increasing number of commercial male sex workers in Gulu town is jeopardizing their fight against HIV/AIDS. He reveals that commercial male sex workers are led by a former UN driver (name withheld) also resident of Bardege division in Gulu municipality.

"I was very ashamed when I heard somebody, (name withheld) is the administrator of these male sex workers. At the end of the day when he was asked that how much money do you get in a month, he said Shs 600,000." said Labeja.

Labeja who is a member of the Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders’ Initiative for Community Action on AIDS at the Local Level (AMICAALL) Uganda Chapter, said the commercial male sex workers target rich working-class women who are normally feared by men but have burning sexual desires.

"These youths who are male sex workers they are going for rich women…These women are maybe rich but she lacks one 'thing' and that 'thing' she needs to buy it from these poor boys." said Labeja who vowed to fight the vice to the end.

Alex Okoya, the Labour Line Parish LC II chairperson confirmed the presence of the commercial male sex workers owing to high demand by working-class women like bankers and high profile widows who "normally rent rooms in the outskirts of town where they are serviced by the young boys."

Okoya said he interacted with the male sex workers and they told him that they went into the business since the work they were previously doing earned them little money.

Buckley Ruth Monday, the Gulu Municipal community development officer, says most of the young boys in Gulu town don’t want to work and want quick gains, something that leads them into such vices.

William Onyai, the Gulu district health and education officer confirmed the existence of the male sex workers but refused to disclose more information, saying it will jeopardize their work in helping them in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Gulu’s health performance indicator for the financial year 2017/18 indicates that HIV prevalence in the district stands at 8.4 per cent compared to the national average of 6.2 per cent.

Article 13 (1) of the Penal Code Act 1950 states that every person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution and every person who in any place solicits or importunes for immoral purposes commits an offense and is liable to imprisonment for seven years

Maybe call it OWC using the readily available natural resource?

This is yet another clear proof that even after more than three decades in power Mr Museveni and his NRM outfit is still come forward with a viable plan to solve the unemployment scourge affecting the greater majority of Ugandans who are the youth.

And since it's a "willing seller to a willing buyer" deal, let them fix their needs. Why the noise when nobody is being forced into it?

The Gulu leadership has done a commendable job in many areas especially the supervision of infrastructure development.

But they owe to aware that growth and development comes with its own social ills. Maybe its just time they factor in this variable as well.

Prostitution is prostitution whether it is practiced by women or men but it appears society is more comfortable with female prostitutes than their male counter parts.

And guess what, the female prostitutes are not bothered by the presence of the males because they dont "graze on the same grass"

I hear commercial male sex workers target rich working-class women who are normally feared by men but have burning sexual desires.

The people in Gulu should be celebrating for having only males who "F.... " women for money, in Kampala, we have male sex workers who do both.

Some sell themselves to rich old women while others sell their "behind" right there on the streets without any shame and are spreading diseases to whoever cares to buy them.

Well then one needs to have a sermon from the many pastors in this very religious African country to understand the morals of the customers of such a trade.

What does the good book say about this human folly?

Museveni killed many of the young men in Acholi Land, during his war with Kony.

There are many widows and mostly old men and youngsters remaining .

So the so-called rich women import gigolos/male prostitutes from other parts of the country to satisfy their sexual desires.

As anyone ever wonder why Uganda has more youngsters/youths (and ophants) than anywhere around the world? Because Museveni committed genocides to kill all their parents for his political agenda. .

Actually most men see such male prostitutes as their potential rivals because some married women need such "additional" service too [I am assuming that such men are paid for their services. In which case, women with spendable money (like wives of politicians) are their most likely customers).

However, I know some men who donate that kind of service for free / for the benefit of their communities. (In Teso region they are called NIGHT DANCERS).

Lysol, not only genocide; but also infanticide.

E.g., during the 20-year NRA/LRA carnage; the ministry of Health and Unicef reported that: on average 1,000 children died per week in the IDP Camps. 1,000x52x20= 1,040,000 million children perished.

In other words, through the dehumanizing IDP Camps (malnutrition Contagious and/or infectious diseases, mental health breakdown etc.), there was "a biological warfare plan (BWP)" for the depopulation and dispossession of Acholi Sub-region.

And Lysol, most wars are provoked in order to gain/capture and/or retain territory. E.g. Hitler invaded Poland as part of his campaign to gain more land/territory for the Germans.

Why did Mr. M7 take his war to Luweero? It is because he was mesmerized by that part of Buganda. He wanted to settle his landless, itinerant, loitering balalo and their cattle: e.g., didn't the balalo cross the Nile into Acholi and Lango?

Therefore thru the 5-year war Luweero was depopulated and now many people are being dispossessed, and driven to the streets of Kampala into dehumanizing destitution: alcohol, drug, gambling and prostitution and Boda carnage.

This land scheme makes me feel like strangling people like Richard Todwong and his brother Otema Awany, Yakobo Oulanya, Beatrice Anywar, etc. who are in bed with Mr. M7 while selling away their mothers for a price.

But you Karemere, that is hilarious! To me it is a revelation.

In other words, is that why night dancers are often caught stack naked (pants down)? Besides, most nabbed so call night-dancers are male (idiots) and not women.
