Condom shortage hits Gulu town

Gulu town is facing an acute shortfall of condoms, with all major condom distribution points running out of stock.

The crisis which started over the Christmas period worsened even further over the New Year - affecting supply to most free condom dispensers in public places in and around the town.

The affected distribution points were at Gulu bus park, public toilets, Gulu district council hall and major hotels including Churchill courts hotel, Bomah hotel amongst others.

At Gulu bus park, the condoms which were supplied by the ministry of Health to be distributed free of charge were out of stock by Christmas time.

Balson Onen, the LC1 chairperson of Bus park B sub-ward in Pece division says that the condom dispenser which used to be replenished once every two weeks had to be refilled every week to meet its growing demands.

William Onyai, the Gulu district health educator says that organizations that include Health Rights North in Acholi and The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) have been helping the district distribute the free condoms.

Onyai says the shortage worsened after the two organizations closed office for Christmas. He says he expects more supplies to be delivered to the district. Ministry of Health is promoting effective condom use in the fight against HIV alongside other HIV prevention strategies such as abstinence, being faithful to one sexual partner, testing and treating.

The National Medical Stores (NMS) estimates that 4 million condoms are used in Uganda every month while annual uptake increased from 87 million condoms in 2012 to 240 million in 2015.

...Acholi MUST break away from Museveni's Uganda & NOW, before it's too late!

Yet, tribal leaders standing down & UNITY of ALL would be the best solution, then Ugandans would go streight for the kind of governance they want, without fighting & especially, without giving chance to Museveni to just use them against one another, only to end up owning every tribal land!

Has even UN said a word about Ugandans robbed of their citizenship while refugees become real Ugandans in recent event?

Will UN say a word against Museveni when he will finally own Uganda?...

Did UN or any outsider say a word when Rwenzururu tribal leader was treated as a terrorist?

Has any tribal leader got the right to say anything about how Museveni rules & are their subjects served with tax money?...

...The Republic of Uganda stopped existing the moment tribal leaders were installed by Museveni & this is why no outsider is concerned about what Museveni does to Ugandans & will go along with him when he will officially own their country!

Is Acholiland going to be part of this new Uganda where Acholi/the other tribes will be foreigners/regfugees who will have to sign papers so as to stay wherever they will be confined?

Woooo , Uganda !!!

Long ago , it was well known that promiscuity or casual sex was a NO NO among women of the north , especially the Acoli

Actually , it was said that in the north , HIV was not as common as it was in Bantu tribes -until NRA walked in there.

Not anymore ???
Now , it is reported that the most active region when it comes to casual sex is Gulu and Arua.Girls as young as 12 are there doing it with 50 years oldmen for a candy !!!

.. and here is the puzzle : these places which have shortage of condoms also happen to have the highest teen-age pregancies in Uganda !

SO ,WHO is using the CONDOMS ?

In other words Wooden, how e.g did the White Settlers destroy the lives (conservative tradition) of Red Indians (American Indians) and took away the whole of North American Continent (it is about Land)?

They introduce dehumanizing urbanization- alcohol, gambling, free sex (promiscuity/prostitution), which go with sexually transmitted diseases (STD) like gonorrhea and incurable Syphilis. Now Hiv/Aids.

Likewise in Australia, the Brits (ex-convicts), destroyed the lives and tradition of the Aborigines natives and took that continent (land) for themselves.

In other words, to date, alcoholism and drug has almost wipe out any sense of the humanity of the Aborigines.

That is the fate of the current Youths of Uganda.

Many Ugandans have not yet woken up to the fact that the members of the First Family are Ultra Colonialist.

E.g., they adopted our former colonial masters', imperial mindset. Wherever they go they carry themselves complete with colonial hats (bush hat) portable seats, table, tents and now mobile toilet.

Good afternoon Lakwena !

I must give it you !

You have exactly described how an "occupation" can change a society`s DNA.

Now , you understand what we in Buganda have been fighting for 120 years.

First , it was the Arabac Emperialists , then come White Colonialist , then come OBOTE !

They all tried to change Buganda but failed .

It is possible that there are others attemping to accomplish what the other 3 tried to do.

WE , have resisted and will continue to refuse to be totally Aboriginized .

Despite all the challenges , you can still see our DNA if you care to look .

OLUTALO NGA LUWEDDE .......

Lakwena , the problem with you from the north is that you have no leadership . The centre is not there.

All the men and women from the north that should be there to guide your peoples and preserve the norms, customs and virtues that you used to cherish are based here in Buganda .

They only go home to vist .

When Adoko Nekyon died recently , I was amazed to learn that even at 87 , the man still lived in Kampala.

Truth be told , your women have never been beauty queens ; but we ( bantu) admired them and envied the men there because of their( northern women) that sense of dignity and hardwork.

Its a pity that they now are the queens of promiscuity.

You`ve go to; BALANCE YOUR BOAT !!!
