Statement: The Observer not sold

There is fake news doing rounds on social media that The Observer Media Limited (OML), the publishers of The Observer newspaper has been sold to Next Media.

This fake news has been spread by an online publication, Campus Eye. The OML has not held any meetings with any entity concerning the sale of shares.

The OML is still as intact as it has been for the last 13 years. Therefore, all the information being circulated in regard to the sale of shares to Next Media is fabricated and should be ignored.

None of the media entities that are circulating the fake news have contacted the management of OML for clarification or confirmation of their speculations.

The OML management would like to assure its clients, readers and general public that nothing has changed.

No merger, no sale. In the same regard, we would like to appeal to the online news outlets to endeavor to cross-check their facts before publishing and spreading ridiculous news.

So my dear friends at observer, what is wrong with a sale of your newspaper, how does the sale if at all affect your operations or distribution.

I dont think many of us advertise or buy the observer because of its shareholders or directors. We simply buy the paper because it gives us alternative information and is fairly objective, analytically and consistent.

I personally dont know why you had to respond, a sale is not the same as a closure, this would not alarm service providers, performance of employees or creditors.

Wadada, I think when they cut off your f**eskin they also removed part of your brain.

Do u know that with most companies a romour of takeover or change of management, even just the departure of the CEO can have an impact on the value of the company.

Are u telling me that if the government or say a movement leaning person owned the company that the contents of the paper wouldn't be affected.

The Observer is the only one left where readers can post their comments at will, without unnecessary email confirmations, unlike the Monitor and others.

The regime has left the Observer alone, as one of the only the social media outlets because it can easily spy on the descending voices of the oppositions.

It's not out of kindness, but by design. On the other end, the regime has raided the offices of the Observer on many occasions, but it cannot go beyond atogansing or closing the Observer, because of it's tribal politics, which may backfire.

The only bully tactic left for the regime, is to acquire the Observer through some shoddy business deals, just as it did with the Monitor.

The regime is even trying to use Chineses tactics and gadgets to control the internet from it's critics. In the end it will all fail, because you can never shut up the voices of everyone.

This fellow called Ejakait Engoraton is one of the few people that just grew up, they were not brought up, otherwise, it is difficult to understand why he must use crude language in order to put his point across.

One would easily imagine that his wife told him how my foreskin was cut. Am certain that even without the use of that statement, readers herein would have understood that his views differ from mine

In other words, when will the Observer get back to its Tri-weekly Issues?

Otherwise, such a fake news is as bad as a bankruptcy rumor, would easily bankrupt a bank, like e.g. Crane Bank.
