Nine people have died in a boat accident on Lake Victoria.
The dead include three children who were traveling with their parents from Kisaba landing site to Kasenyi landing site in Entebbe.
According to police, the dead may have drowned after the boat on which they were traveling capsized mid-way through the journey.
Superintendent of police, Francis Tabu, who is attached to the police marines, confirmed the deaths.
The dead are believed to have been part of the eighteen people in the fateful boat. The eighteen reportedly missed the morning ferry so they decided to travel by a small boat loaded with fish and other merchandise.
The cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained but police suspect it may have been loaded beyond capacity or because of heavy waves in the lake.
"When the boat reached in the middle, we suspect it capsized because of a strong wind made it fail to stabilise leading capsizing," Taabu said.
Also dead were three male adults and three female adults. Nine people were however rescued according to the police.
