This action film stars Dwayne Johnson as Will Sawyer, a retired FBI agent who works as a security analyst for The Pearl, Hong Kong’s tallest skyscraper and a technological infused building.
Criminals hijack the building, seeking to retrieve an item being kept by the owner of the skyscraper. In order to make a statement, they set fire to the skyscraper, trapping Sawyer’s wife and children.
With his family held hostage, Sawyer has to make use of police training to take down the criminals to save his family and get them safely out of the burning building.
The film’s defining moment comes with Johnson’s death defying stunt that saw him jump over a multi-storied crane into the burning building. Skyscraper is Johnson’s second film of the year after Rampage.
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the man behind 2016’s action comedy Central Intelligence, the film also casts Pablo Schreiber (Den of Thieves, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi), Ng Chin Han (Ghost in the Shell, Independence Day: Resurgence, The Dark Knight), and Byron Mann (The Man with the Iron Fists), Roland Møller (The Commuter, Atomic Blond).
Skyscraper premiers this Friday at Century Cinemax, Acacia mall and Cinema Magic, Metropole mall.
