Oceans reboot tests female-led cast

Ocean’s 8 follows a group of women, led by Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, fresh out of prison for art fraud.

She develops a plan to steal at the Met Gala. To pull off her perfect heist, Debbie enlists a tech hacker, a pick pocket, a disgraced fashion designer and a stay at home mum to help her steal a multi-million dollar necklace in the midst of tight security.

Following the direction of Ghost Busters (2016), Hollywood has decided to develop reboots of revered classics enlisting female actors in lead roles.

Ocean’s 8 enlists Hollywood’s finest: Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit Trilogy), Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Thor Ragnarok), Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, The Dark Knight Rises), Mindy Kaling (A Wrinkle in Time), James Corden (Peter Rabbit), Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story, American Crime Story - The People v. O. J. Simpson), Rihanna (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets) and Helena Bonham Carter (Dark Shadows, Harry Potter).

The heist film opens this Friday at Century Cinemax, Acacia mall.
