This week Aamito Queen Lagum has been the trending sensation on social media, after cosmetic line MAC used her painted, heart-shaped lips on its Instagram page.
The post drew unkind Internet trolls, who likened her to Jay-Z, while others called her ‘fish lips’ and others went outright racist, saying white people are more beautiful than black people. But there was also a lot of support for Aamito, who took it all with grace.
Who wouldn’t, when so much is happening for the 23-year-old!
Just recently at the launch of Kanye West’s season III of Yeezy fashion line that drew the who-is-who among the A-listers, including worshipped Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, Aamito was right there to represent UG in New York’s Madison Square gardens.
Aamito, who towered head and shoulders over the other models on the main stage, shared the stage with modelling icon, Naomi Campbell, doing Ugandan fashion aficionados proud.
Aamito’s career is still young, having won the maiden edition of Africa’s Next Top Model barely two years ago, but she has hit the ground running, having walked for famous designers and in the most prestigious fashion weeks.
Africa’s Next Top Model, hosted by Nigerian supermodel Oluchi Onweagba, is a spin-off of Tyra Banks’ hugely-successful America’s Next Top Model.
Well done, Aamito!
Lamar Odom bounces back
If you, like Star Trail, follow the TV reality family of the Kardashians/Jenners, then you will be glad to read the latest about Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband, Lamar Odom.
Well, the former NBA player appears to be making a great recovery following his near-death experience in October. The towering basketball player, 36, was pictured after shopping for groceries in Calabasas, Los Angeles on Friday, looking happy and healthy.
Lamar was hospitalised in October after being found unconscious due to a drink and drug binge while at a brothel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After being in a coma and being put on life support, the outlook was bleak for his recovery, and it was also revealed he had suffered strokes and kidney failure.
Khloe, 31, who was in the process of divorcing him, flew out to visit him in Las Vegas along with members of her family, and remained by his bedside as he recovered, calling off their divorce in the process.
Khloe and Lamar’s union was favoured by Keeping Up With The Kardashians viewers, because of how naturally their love came off.
Now there is talk that the couple – who married in 2009 but split in 2013 – are back together again after their loved-up display at Khloe’s brother-in-law’s recent fashion show.
The Sex Code launched on Valentine’s day
Valentine’s day always has various festivities; dinners, boat cruises and concerts, but Dr Richard Mwesigwa chose to use the day to launch his aptly-named book, The Sex Code.
The book is about the true aspect of sex in the biblical setting and how one should treat the other while in a relationship.
The launch at Protea hotel was an invite-only event and the red-carpet event had strictly 170 guests and kicked off at 6pm with dinner and music, with media personality Marcus Kiryowa and writer Beverlay Nambozo on MC duty.
Sports analyst-turned-pastor Joseph Kabuleta joined Mwesigwa to dissect the book and also moderate the interesting question-and-answer session.
Thank goodness it was an adults-only event!
The issue of oral sex dominated the discussion and at the end, it was settled with the biblical Song of Songs 2:3, which makes it not a sin. The book is on sale at Game and Aristoc.
