Afrigo band announces ‘Royal Ball’ concert

On October 1, Afrigo Band will stage a concert aimed at commemorating their royal recognition during Kabaka’s 61st birthday celebrations.

Dubbed ‘The Royal Ball’, the band will be honored to have the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, as chief guest.

“It is such an honor to be recognized by the Kabaka and Afrigo will hold a concert this year to celebrate it,” Moses Matovu, the band’s saxophonist told journalists on Monday.

Last year, the band brought out their best catalogue when they celebrated forty years. According to Rachael Magoola and Joanita Kawalya, this year they will raise the bar even higher.

The show will be at the Kampala Serena hotel’s Victoria hall. You will need to part with Shs 100,000 and Shs 1,000,000 for a table. Matovu noted that the band has new music they will be performing that day.

He also cleared rumours surrounding some members leaving the band.

“Afrigo is like a family. People come and perform with us even when some of them are not, indeed, part of the band. The perceived deserters were only performing with us,” Matovu said.
