Uchumi to list shares in Uganda

Uchumi Supermarket will this week cross-list its shares on the Uganda Securities Exchange after getting approval from the capital markets regulators.
Currently listed on the Nairobi and Rwanda stock exchanges, Uchumi becomes the first supermarket chain to mark list on Uganda’s bourse.
“We will be listing 265,426,614 ordinary Uchumi shares of par value Ksh 5.00 each share at the Uganda Securities Exchange on November 13, 2013,” Dr Jonathan Ciano, the Chief Executive Officer Uchumi, said in a press statement.
Uchumi’s listing will take the number of listed companies on the USE to 16. Uchumi has five branches in Uganda and 23 in Kenya.
