This will come as shocking news but Maddox Sematimba, the once Sweden-based singer who rocked Kampala with Namagembe, Irene and Nakatudde is now a pauper in Nakulabye.
Maddox had major arrears at the Namirembe Road based Manhattan Guest house amounting to Shs 13.5m in 2010 and was even sent to Luzira prison for that. His relatives tried to clear the bill but not before the guest house confiscated his passport. Fellow artistes eventually bailed him out. With no money and no source of income, Maddox has gradually turned into an alcoholic, spending every penny on waragi sachets.
Star Trail was directed to some ghetto in Nakulabye, where he found Maddox making commercial chapatti, looking very unkempt (his dreadlocks were messy). Those around say whenever he gets money he thinks of waragi and has refused to go back to studio. Such a pity!
Chris Evans weeps on TV
It is three weeks to his show which coincides with Jose Chameleone's on March 2 - 4, and already Chris Evans is feeling the pressure. Last week while on Bukedde TV's Omubimba music show hosted by Miles Rwamiti, Evans was asked about how he feels about having the same launch dates with Chameleone. Evans just broke down into tears, saying, "I consulted and they said their show was in January and now they are calling me saying I should give way because for them they are too 'big' to step down for a kid", said a tearful Evans.
The Ndikusasulaki singer sobbed like a little girl that Miles had to stop the interview and go into commercials. Hey Chris, man up, already! But again, most of his fans are chicks and I hear they do love a weepy dude...
Cindy drops Party
Fans of former Blu3 princess, Cinderella Sanyu (better known as Cindy), are fast-forgetting the rather disappointing year she had in 2011, all thanks to her new smash hit, Party.
Released late last year, the track has fast become a darling of many partiers, once again stamping Cindy's dominance over any other female dancehall artiste in the land. Some critics had already started writing off the young artiste following her pregnancy break for most of last year. Now we surely know, Oyokyayokya Cindy.
Kalibbala for introduction
Come June this year and singer Priscilla Kalibbala will introduce her beau Michael Kimbugwe to her parents. Kimbugwe who stays in Washington DC was here last December for a preliminary visit to Kalibbala's parents. Kalibbala then released Ninze Ggwe, a dedication to Kimbuggwe. She has also redone the late Baligidde's Agawalaggana, saying, "The two songs are an answer to those saying that I quit singing".
Customized phones for Chameleone
A Chinese company looking for the region's entertainment giant zeroed in on Jose Chameleone, and come April 1, new phones called Chameleone will hit the streets of East Africa.
This comes after a Samsung phone deal that reportedly featured Didier Drogba [West and North Africa] and Lawrence Siphiwe Tshabalala [South Africa]. Jose Chameleone was supposed to feature for East and Central Africa, but for unclear reasons the Chameleone Samsung never materialised. Chameleone was overheard announcing the good news, saying it is why he is called Chamili Technology; atagejja, atakogga...!
Papa Cidy and Chameleone make up
Last year Leone Island president Chameleone broke-up with group member Papa Cidy over allegations of non-payment. Papa Cidy was even courted by nemesis Goodlfye but now word reaching Star Trail is that the pair has reconciled and even recorded a new song, Meeme Katale. Chameleone has refused to release the song to radio stations, arguing that it will be the track that ushers in his launch next month.
Coco Finger's new wheels
After surviving an accident last month, Coco Finger has bounced back in a new BMW. The Party Animal singer brought the car out last weekend and straight away took it on a bar hopping spree, telling anyone who cared to listen that it cost him an arm and a leg. Congrats, Coco Finger for graduating from that DMC Golf GTi.
