Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) engineering brigade has taken over the construction of the multi-purpose building of Gulu University Constituent College in Moroto district.

This development follows the completion of the compensation of 294 landlords who provided 794 acres of land for the development of the learning institution. The construction site was handed over to the UPDF trading arm, National Enterprise Corporation Limited, and works are expected to commence soon.

Gulu University top management led by vice chancellor Prof George Ladaah Openjuru noted that the Shs 39.9 billion project is in fulfillment of the presidential pledge to provide a higher and balanced education to students in Karamoja sub-region.

Openjuru said that they are looking forward to strengthening education in the Karamoja sub-region and cutting the costs of learners travelling long distances to access higher education.

‘’I want to thank the leadership of the region, security, and all stakeholders for the support and consideration exhibited to this far towards the realization of the strategic plan,’’ Openjuru said.

Theresa Mary Obbo, chairperson of Gulu University governing council stressed that the management shall be able to tap into human resources to further develop the constituent college which will teach education and agriculture among other programs.

Lt Elias Turinomuhangi, NEC project coordinator while receiving the site for construction promised to deliver quality work and complete the project as planned in two years. Justin Tuko, deputy resident district commissioner for Moroto explained that all compensation and ground works were completed in the first phase.

"As political and civil leaders across the sub-region, we pledge total support and cooperation for the success of this project which comes with other benefits," Tuko said.

The move marks the second phase for the construction of the first multi-purpose building at a project site located 10 km along Moroto-Nakapiririt road where the college owns 7086.1 acres of land in Nadunget sub-county.

In other words, the NRM leadership is militarizing every aspect of the economy.

Just like the UPDF, why don't the Uganda Police and Prison Service also start their trading arm of Construction Companies?

Otherwise, this must be a syndicate to funnel out Public resources through a dubious means. If the UPDF is grabbing all the construction works, what will happen to privately own construction companies?

Why shouldn't such project be given to the experienced National Housing and Construction Corporation, so that other Ugandans who are not UPDF soldiers (already employed) can also get employed in the construction Industry?.

[Shs 39.9 billion project is in fulfillment of the presidential pledge to provide a higher and balanced education to students in Karamoja sub-region.]

Is Gulu University a real well built, good looking place that Acholi are proud of?

Why do Ugandans hebave as if "the president" has just come to power & is going to ensure Karamoja & the rest of Uganda is finally his plan for education & development?

Why does Uganda belong to Rwandese Museveni & Ugandans believe it's normal he owns their land & tax money, controls every institution?

Why are +38 years of Museveni owning & destroying Uganda as he wishes, normality to Ugandans so he can rule for life & leave the post to his son in the waiting?

Just NO to the tribalistic system & UNITY are all Ugandans need, if they want to own their land again govern as they wish!

[UPDF takes over construction of Gulu University Constituent College in Moroto]

This is a cunning way for UPDF to take control of Acholi land & make it their military base!

Museveni tried many times to make Acholiland his military base & this time it appears he's going to succeed! Then his ownership of Uganda will be realy assured!

The rest of tribes should wake up as they too, are in Museveni's Uganda & once Acholiland becomes his military base, he will dissolve posts of tribal leaders & make Uganda the land he dreamed of "his mother land"!!

Sudanese Idi Amin give 2 birth places in Uganda, to make Ugandans understand it was his land!

Ugandans, please, WAKE UP & UNITE as ONE to block & show Museveni way out, NOW!

E.g., now that our "Problem of Africa" is appointing all the retired and pensionable UPDF officers to head government ministries and/or departments, where should the rest of Educated and qualified Ugandans go?

It seems the NRM is at it again creating constituencies for itself in this large region of Karamoja.

Soon this inefficient parliament of Uganda might end up with over a total of 700 members of Parliament of which 530 might be NRM.

It is not at all bad as long as other national political parties are given equal chances of developing their communities as they so wish! Education institutions in this region is a must especially where the economic and human resources are under great turmoil and exploitation left, right and center.

These African tribal people of the Karamonjog origin, continue to believe as civilization hits them hard, that all long horned cattle in the world are theirs by birth rights!
