Kyambogo college dominates private admissions at Kyambogo University

Last week, Kyambogo University concluded admissions for their next academic year, with the release of their private admissions list.

An analysis of this list shows that neighbours Kyambogo College School dominated the private admissions list, with 171 students admitted to the institution.

Figuratively, some of the former Kyambogo College school students will be walking across their former compound to start their classes at the university, as the two institutions share some of the facilities.

Buddo SS come second behind Kyambogo College School at 113 students admitted, ahead of Lugazi Mixed school Naalya at 109. It was a tight contest for the next three places.

Bishop Cipriano Kihangire SS in Luzira come next at 108, ahead of Mengo SS at 106, Our Lady of Africa SS Namilyango at 105. Gombe SS are in seventh place with 101, ahead of Namirembe Hillside SS with 95 and Lubiri SS with 92 and Hilton High School Mukono rounding up the top ten at 86.

Perennial champions St Mary’s SS Kitende are in 13th place with 80, coming after St Mary’s College Lugazi (86), and St Peter’s SS Naalya at 81. However, St Mary’s SS Kitende’s annex saw a further 47 students admitted. This brings to 133, the number of students who studied under St Mary’s SS Kitende’s leadership.

Kyambogo University admitted 1,400 students on the government sponsorship scheme and some 12,338 students on the private scheme. At 13,738 students, Kyambogo’s admission list is expected to be the second largest, after Makerere’s list, likely to be released in the next two weeks.
