Uganda Baati Limited (UBL) recently unveiled an e-commerce platform in the steel manufacturing sector that will make purchasing of their products more convenient, a first in Uganda’s steel manufacturing sector.
Developed with the intention of improving customer convenience at a time when many Ugandans have started embracing online purchasing, Uganda Baati believes the new innovation will make their brands more accessible to Ugandans.
The platform, which will run under the domain name (shop.ugandabaati.co.ug), will allow both retail and wholesale customers who use it to shop, place an order and pay for their preferred roof sheets from anywhere and at any time.
George Arodi, the business head at Uganda Baati, said the new e-commerce platform is a game changer for UBL as it sets a precedent for the change in purchasing trends of steel products in the steel manufacturing industry in Uganda.
“We pride ourselves in investing heavily in innovations that ultimately translate into customers getting the best value from us,” he said.
The steel and roofing market is currently dominated by businesses that are heavily reliant on walk-in customers. This form of purchase was greatly affected by the Covid-19-induced lockdowns, which made it hard for customers to move.
The platform is expected to ease transactions for people from hard-to-reach areas in rural Uganda to be able to order for products of their choice.
