Think beyond the ordinary legislative business. Let’s look at the MPs in the lens of who is a sheer beauty on the debating floor and who is not.

There are legislators that stand out from others with their striking faces and dress sense - the MPs you may be tempted to vote just for their beauty. Here is our vote for the Eighth Parliament’s top ten lookers.

Nabilah Ssempala Naggayi, FDC

She is usually referred to as the sexiest MP. The Woman MP for Kampala Central has the looks for Miss Parliament. She has a sense of style that many Parliament journalists agree, compares to none of the other MPs.

The 38-year-old MP was once almost ‘undressed’ by Police while being arrested at Owino Market. A section of male MPs from the ruling NRM said, tongue-in-cheek, that the Police had been tempted because of her beauty.

Nabilah is married and loves spending time with her family. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Makerere University, and a certificate in Translation from Saarland University, Germany. She has worked as Marketing Manager Cairo International Bank, Marketing Manager Heirnz Haup Gruppe and Marketing Officer Air France, among others. The MP also has special interest in spirituality.

Nakawuki Susan Matovu, FDC

She is one of the youngest and most stunning MPs. Due to her beauty, the MP for Busiro East, Wakiso District, was taken off the singles’ list at the age of 21. The 27-year-old lawyer was once married to businessman Matovu, before matters relating to her beauty caused problems. Her philosophy in life is never to forgive a man who cheats! Perhaps that explains why she sits on the committee on Gender, Labour and Social Development.

Hope Ruhindi Mwesigye, NRM

If you think at 54 one’s beauty should be diminishing, look at this ‘Yellow Girl’. The Woman MP for Kabale District and Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries does look great. Coupled with her light skin, she is still one of the sexiest MPs in Parliament.

She is a sister-in-law to the Minister for Security and Secretary General of the ruling NRM, Amama Mbabazi. The gorgeous lawyer worked as a Senior State Attorney in the Ministry of Justice for eight years prior to 1988. Between 1988 and 1991, she worked as the Programme Officer at Uganda Gender Resources Centre, a private non-profit organisation. And yes, there is a Mr. Mwesigye somewhere.

Hashaka Kabalweza Florence, NRM

She is the Woman Member of Parliament for Kamwenge District. The 34-year-old, who holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Makerere University Business School, is really hot. She has worked as Cashier/Accounts Assistant Tyson Waragi, Accounts Assistant Allied Engineering Works, among a host of other places.

Susan Nampijja, CP

She is the daughter of Conservative Party President, John Ken Lukyamuzi, whom he fielded after the Inspector General of Government hounded him out of the Seventh Parliament. Nampijja is still single.

And good looking. She loves traveling, reading, music, dance and drama. The 32-year-old has a degree in Environmental Management, Makerere University, and a diploma (Statistics for Environmental Policy) from Munich, Germany. The MP, whose only employment record is working as a Programme Assistant, Yoma Associates, is said to be giving many a legislator sleepless nights with her looks.

Kiiza Winifred, FDC

At 40, Winifred looks like she is just turning 30. The gorgeous MP is the woman representative for Kasese District. She is in Parliament with her husband Bwambale Bihande Yokasi, the MP Bukonzo County East, Kasese District – the only couple in the House. She loves making friends, listening to gospel music, playing netball and travelling. She has a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management from Kyambogo University.

Rosemary Najjemba Muyinda, NRM

She is the MP for Gomba County, Mpigi District. The former teacher of Progressive Secondary School is one of the beauties that the Eighth Parliament boasts of.  Aged 38, she loves reading as well as political debates. And she is a tough woman!

At the height of the stand-off between Buganda and the central government over the Kabaka’s botched visit to Kayunga District, an emotional Rosemary reportedly stood up and told Museveni that she no longer respected Gen. Elly Tumwiine following his remarks that Buganda doesn’t matter and the ruling NRM can do without it.

The married MP has a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Management, Makerere University, and a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Makerere University.

Namara Grace, Independent

The legislator with ‘milky’ features is a wife to businessman Godfrey Kirumira. The MP loves helping the needy and going to church. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Nkumba University, and a Diploma in Office Management & Secretarial Services (Nkumba University).

Before joining Parliament, she worked as a Sales Manager, X-tel Ltd and Estates Manager, GKK Group of Companies.  She sits on the committee for Public Service and Local Government.

Mariam Nalubega Patience, Independent

She is one of the most active MPs in Parliament but that doesn’t take away anything from her beauty. The 30-year-old Youth MP who holds a Diploma in Law, Advanced Certificate (Public Administration and Management), Makerere University, is married.

Byenkya Nyakaisiki Beatrice, NRM

At 48, Beatrice still looks pretty. She is one of the most vocal MPs, something that many men find intimidating. She has worked as Assistant Editor of the Hansard (1987-1996), CA Delegate (1994-1995) and News Editor, UTV (1984-1987).

I do not see the relevance of writing such an article in a publication that claims to be focusing on issues of development.

How does judging and grading women MPs beauty ging to change things in society? Those women do not go the House to compete on looks. They go in there to represent. Obsever has a habit of downing and undermining women legislators.

The other day they wasted two pages putting photos of legs of women legislatues. Really!!!!! Dont you have better things to write than expose your chauvenism in a newspaper with repute?
