KAMPALA, February – Thousands of believers and non-believers alike are flocking to Makerere Community Church following reports that gay pornography screenings have become part of Sunday worship.

According to the BBC, anti-gay activist, Pastor Martin Ssempa has been screening gay porn in his church ostensibly to drum up support for his anti-gay crusade.

This makes Makerere Community Church the only place in Uganda where watching pornography is “legal”. According to Uganda’s laws, even mere possession of pornographic material is a crime.

It would appear that Makerere Community Church has got a special license to show porn. Moreover, perhaps following Jesus Christ’s example of welcoming children, even kids can watch porn at Makerere Community Church.

A source who went to watch a “normal” film at Cineplex at Garden City on Sunday was surprised to find himself alone in the cinema. He too abandoned Cineplex and rushed to Makerere Community Church when a friend sent him an SMS saying that a “sexy film of people doing things” was showing there.

However, some people who attended the Ssempa pornography screening complained that the good pastor has “poor taste”.

“I am now convinced the man is a pastor. Is that the best gay porn he could find? I was waiting to see lesbians doing it but where, he only showed men!” complained a member of the congregation.

He said he would speak to the pastor to “balance up things” by showing lesbian sex, as well as heterosexual sex.

“If I am going to choose between gay sex and straight sex, I need to compare and contrast,” he said.
Some people, however, were happy that they now know what homosexuality is all about.

“I can’t wait to get home and try it out. The men in the movie really seemed to be enjoying themselves,” one member of the congregation told The Analyst.

Meanwhile, sources in religious circles say that many churches, fearing that they might lose their congregations to Pastor Ssempa’s church, are scrambling to import their own pornographic movies.

“Pastor Ssempa has showed us a whole new way to attract followers,” one priest told The Analyst, adding that once the blue movies arrived, he would rename his church “Kampala Miracle Cinema”.

I really wonder what led my pastor friend Ssempa to do such a thing. Even though he thinks this was a noble cause for him to show gay porn in churc, he cant justify it

and the sad part is that that action alone has relegated him to a petty and carnal fella like the one's he's trying to help. How is he going to erase those grotesq pictures from the minds of his congregation or whoever was watching? This is sad.

If we were to warn people about prostitution and it's dangers and it was a countrywide campaign, would the option of pornography surfice in order to fight it? No....absolutely not!! This is because we're spiritual beings, we donnt fight evil with evil..II Cor 10:3-5.
Our weapons are NOT CARNAL...
Pray more my friend Pst. Ssempa

Must we be shown those videos in order to know about homosexuality?
For now I will assume that it is a lie that this supposedly good man of God is screening porn in the church. but if this report is true, then we are doomed.

The Doubting Thomases should read this BBC report where Martin Ssempa himself confirms showing gay porn in his church:

Now we know what he does when he is not preaching!

Here is hard evidence that Ssempa loves gay porn so much that he cant help but show his favorite bits of his gay porn collection with unsuspecting audiences:

http://wthrockmorton.com/2010/02/18/bbc-news-ssempa-shows-porn-to-church-audience/

He admits it himself, and promises more gay porn shows for the public:

To all you funny people attempting to defend Ssempa by calling others liars:

... if you're gonna do damage control - dont lie... unless you don't mind being caught and exposed like Bill Clinton, Ted Haggard etc

...if you can't help lying, at least coordinate your lies with the person you're trying to defend.

Liars!

Thank you for highlighting this man's hypocrisy as he campaigns against fundamental freedoms, privacy, human rights, and basic decency. The opponents of freedom have no respect for anyone or anything but their own power. They will tell any lie, do any disgusting act, to attack freedom. They are foul.

Shame on you observer for the lies you create to mislead the public. First we have never showed porn to our church congregation with kids. Do you guys ever check stories out? First you claimed that Museveni is part of the family cult now you continue. The presentation was 4 anti homosexuality workshops. Porn is for purpose of sexual stimulation. This is for education.as we make the legislation. Get more of the full story on my blog at martinssempa.blogspot.com Why are you denying Ugandans the chance to have comprehensive knowledge on what Homos do? If indeed it is good, they should thank me for fighting ignorance and homophobia. But I fear you have taken a kitu kidogo which may compromise your views. Ah the curse of sodomy money!

According to Ssempa... in Africa, what consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms is everybody's business. That's his poor excuse for showing porn. Read it here for yourself:

http://wthrockmorton.com/2010/02/22/martin-ssempa-defends-gay-porn-presentations/comment-page-1/#comment-236804

Since he says it's everybody's business, next time he should treat his audiences to educational images of what goes on in his African (public) bedroom... maybe his wife will thank him for making her feel more African.

Anyway, he needs to take a break from porn. Stop obsessing about sex and learn to let consenting adults do whatever they please in the privacy of their bedrooms.

That's the main lesson here - we really don't want to know what consenting adults (gay or straight) do in their bedrooms. Much less, we don't want laws that dictate the private sex lives of consenting adults - with whomever and however consenting adults choose to have sex in their bedrooms is a matter of privacy - the right to privacy is even in the Ugandan constitution.

Not only does he obviously relishes gay porn (it is evident that he has watched tons of it in private, and it is a generally reliable psychological principle that THAT degree of homophobia is strongly correlated to egodystonic homosexuality), but he also relishes expensive gadgets like a MacBook Pro (US$ 1299 retail price, if I guessed correctly the model), very likely bought with money of the congregation. Have you any idea of how many first-need drugs and how much food can you buy in Uganda rural areas with that sum?

What a disgusting piece of excrement, this Ssempa ...

"Why are you denying Ugandans the chance to have comprehensive knowledge on what Homos do?"

Ssempa, please dont insult the intelligence of Ugandans.

Everybody knows that there are many straight people who do the exact same things that you want us to believe only homos do... and many, probably most homos would be too disgusted by your porn to have ever thought of trying such things.

Homos are a tiny minority in every society (they have always been and will always be a tiny minority)... 500,000 homos out of Uganda's 30,000,000+. Assuming most registered voters are sexually active adults - 500,000 homos (even if it was 1,000,000 homos) is a tiny fraction of Uganda's sexually active population. There must be more heterosexual Ugandans practising anal sex (and those other things in your porn collection) than the total number of homosexual Ugandans.

Why are you denying Ugandans the chance to have comprehensive knowledge on what heterosexuals do? I can assure you, nobody would appreciate an "educational" pornographic presentation aimed at giving unsuspecting viewers "comprehensive knowledge" on what heterosexuals do... there are many disgusting heterosexual people who do even worse things than those homosexuals you showed in your porn presentations.

Since when has pornography been a reliable indicator of what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms? If we were to use random porn collections to define the sexual behaviour of different demographic groups, then we would safely conclude that all black men prefer white women... and that all women ingest semen... and... I think I'm going to be sick if I continue.

Please dont disgust us with your porn, pastor. It's not helping anybody. Just shaming yourself. Stop it.

be true or not that Sempa showed these films, the danger is that the more Ugandans watch these movies the more they find it a normal way of life.

Myself i live in U.K i do interact with gay people on daily basis but i do not find them any different apart from a mere immagination of what they do in the comfort of their bedrooms. Personnaly i do not condone homosexuality, but if their some tapes about corruption, thes e should be even shown all places of worship and even schools probably from primary level.

Am sorry to say this 'with the level poverty that that we have, it be almost impossible to fight a vice which our donors accept as an alternative way of life' May be if we cleared corruption from our system, we would save a few quids for our society and may be a little ground to resist some of the things from the west.
