The Cecafa Tusker Cup officially returns to Uganda for the first time since 2008 after the 2012 edition was launched at the Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday. Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye confirmed that the two-week tournament will take place from November 24 to December 8.

East African Breweries, through its Tusker brand, will sponsor the event to a tune of $450,000 (Shs 1.1billion). This cash package will include accommodation, welfare and transport for all the participating teams.

The first, second and third placed teams will earn $30,000, $20,000 and $10,000 in that order. Musonye adds that Zambia, Malawi, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Botswana have shown interest in taking part in this year’s event. Uganda are the defending champions.
