Sizzling Entertainment

Irene Namatovu’s new song Nakwata Mpola composed for and sang during her introduction ceremony on Friday, tells whoever thought that she was about to give up on her fiancé Geoffrey Lutaaya to know that the game is now over, she has him for keeps.

In one verse she says that there is no extra time and  penalties because even the already taken penalties were all missed. Entrance to this traditional do was strictly by invite. The invitation card was very important, a first at a kwanjula, and whoever did not carry it was bounced, silk busuuti and all!

The presents [four goats, two Friesians, a portrait of the Kabaka and Nnabagereka with the Buganda anthem lyrics, 8 sacks of sugar, a Toyota Harrier for Irene, TV sets, Sofa set, six sacks of rice, meat, more than 100 baskets of assorted items…] suggested that Lutaaya who has been with Irene since 1999 is now committed and ready to take Irene for keeps.

This was on Friday when Irene was introducing Eagles Production crooner Lutaaya to her folks in Kayebe – Gayaza. The function that started at 1p.m. began with lunch so no one was yawning with hunger and it was followed by music. Annet Nandujja was the official entertainer at the ceremony, while Mariam Ndagire escorted Irene from the house.

All Eagles Production members led by Mesach Ssemakula [Taliiyo] were part of the groom’s entourage, as were Betty Mpologoma, Bobi Wine who was dressed like Osama Bin Laden, Hellena Nanjego, Desire Luzinda [Musuute], Silver Kyagulanyi, Titie Tabel, Billy Katumba and Harriet Kisakye.

To many it was a successful ‘concert’ as also Ronald Mayinja (Lutaaya’s best-man) performed Landlord while the main man Lutaaya joined in with Oli Omu My Love.

The tents had guests led by the band’s patron Lt. Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, Commander of Land Forces, Gaster Lule [Ntake Bakery] who is also an elder brother to Lutaaya, Kampala City Council Speaker, Shifrah Lukwago, Mukono Mayor Muyanja Ssenyonga, John Ssegawa, Herbert Nsubuga, former footballer Hakim Magumba and other members from the entertainment industry in Uganda. It was dancing and clapping nonstop as musicians came on one after the other.

Each table had fresh fruits, mineral water with the bottles branded Irene introduces Lutaaya, flasks of tea in addition to snacks that were served during the function. The most common topic though was Buganda, as Lutaaya’s spokesman kept on bringing in lines either about Kasubi Tombs or CBS closure.

He was always supported by the DJ who played CBS jingles whenever a Buganda issue was mentioned. But despite all this all radios where represented with CBS having the biggest number led by Abby Mukiibi, Abu Kawenja, Patricko Mujuuka, Titie, Kasodde…, Simba was represented by Omulangira Ndausi, Akaboozi Ku Bbiri by Sarah Kabenge and Omulangira Ssuuna, Super FM sent Wycliffe Luyombya, Bwanika Ssensuwa and his wife Ruth Kalibbala Bwanika and Beat FM had Joel Isabirye, Ruth Wanyana and Rebecca Jjingo.

The function that had more than 50 cameramen from all media houses had a budget of over Shs 40 million and Lutaaya promised Irene that the wedding will take place as soon as they complete construction of their house. The wedding will be the house warming party.

Now all eyes are on Haruna Mubiru (Kitooke) who will be introduced to the parents of Stella Ssonko on May 12 with the wedding on the same day. Stella who is a daughter of Frank Ssonko, Lutaaya’s elder brother, is expecting a baby and Haruna wants that baby to be born in a religious marriage.

i wonder what is wrrong with Ugandans nowadays, why waste all this money on introduction. the next thing u hear that the banks are looking for them.

And then u hear people complaining of poverty....meetings for introduction and then wedding....whats wrong with us?? Anyways, atleast some people its business and they are earning from the ever excited Ugandans!!!!

The fact that Lutaaya was always having a fiancee makes me even wonder why he keeps on picking chicks from the street to feature in his love songs. e.g Oli Miss, Oli nice and Lovely, etc, why doesn't he feature them with his fiance.

If Lutaaya thinks that those girls are more pretty then his whole life is just Katemba. Sorry Namatovu oyinza okuba nga okuuma lubugo!!
