The recently-concluded Public Relations Association of Uganda (Prau) excellence awards ceremony brought together different entities from the private and public sectors, and the not-for-profit agencies in Uganda.
Hosted on April 6 at the Kampala Sheraton hotel, the aim is to celebrate achievements and innovations made by organisations in the public relations and communications aspects.
Now in its seventh edition, last year’s Africa Congress of Accountants (ACOA) was recognised for its outstanding organisation and won the Best Event Award.
ACOA is a biennial flagship event of the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) hosted by its member bodies. The event was hosted by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) from May 2- 5, 2017 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
This award is given to an organisation that hosted a big and successful event. The adjudication criteria involved how research, planning, execution and evaluation of the event were implemented as well as the level of publicity attracted before, during and after the event.
The Congress was attended by 1,119 delegates from 60 Professional Accountancy Organisations (PAOs) and 41 countries across Africa, Europe, America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
ACOA’s success was based on its ability to attract financial support from government, domestic and foreign partners; large number of participants from all continents; ability to attract high profile speakers, globally; provision of authentic and verifiable information; global publicity of the event through PAFA, professional accountancy organisations, IFAC, websites, social media and news media; live broadcast of the opening ceremony, hence reaching out to a wider audience; and trending on social media.
