Total Uganda has unveiled a new cashless payment solution, Total card for its customers as the fuel company looks towards total cashless transactions in the near future.
At the launch at Serena hotel recently, Total’s managing director, Florentine De Loppinot described the card as a safe, simple and smart way of managing not only one’s fuel expenses but also shopping and other services provided by Total fuel stations across Uganda.
“The new Total card will allow customers to access services such as vehicle servicing, car was, cooking gas, solar products and a variety of products in the Bonjour shops,” Loppinot said.
According to Loppinot the new pre-paid card works at all Total’s 128 service stations across the country, and can be topped up using mobile money (Airtel for now) or cash payments at the counter.
Unlike the old Total cards that were offered to corporate, government and SME customers for the fleet vehicles, the new card is given to individuals and allows for multiple users for a single card.
Angela Bogere Namugosa the head, retail and marketing at Total said that currently, 35 percent of the customers are using fuel cards because of their convenience.
“All you need is to carry your card with you and know your pin number to access these services at all our stations,” said Namugosa.
The card can be acquired instantly from all Total stations at Shs 11,800 and comes with the same amount as free credit. Faustine Mugisha, head of the commercial department at Total said that the card comes with instant bonuses and discounts on all goods and services paid for using the card.
